Waking up William Walkthrough
Coffee alone does not wake William. His morning route also depends on both eyes, hat progression and several follow-up puzzle states.

NOT AWAKE
Waking up William Quick Checklist
How to wake William
- 1. Finish the coffee route
- 2. Treat both eyes
- 3. Complete the hat progression
- 4. Advance the window / knob interaction
- 5. Continue William's wake state
If the coffee is finished but William still does not wake up, do not keep repeating the coffee interaction — another wake requirement is probably incomplete.
To complete Waking up William, first finish the coffee and wake requirements, then follow William's Hat → Egg → Scroll → Timepiece → Break Egg progression. The Clock may also require the correct Clock Door and Jacket Timepiece states — correct hand positions alone are not always enough.

2. Follow William's Morning Progression
William's morning route progresses through a specific sequence. If a later object appears inactive, you may simply be one phase too early.
Hat
Complete William's hat / face-related interactions until the dialogue advances to the Egg phase.
Egg
Finish the Egg interactions before expecting the Scroll / Timepiece part of the room to behave as if they are active.
Scroll
Scroll opened but the Notebook did not advance? Make sure the paper interaction has also completed. The scroll route continues beyond simply opening the object.
Timepiece
The Clock checks more than the hand positions. William's Timepiece and Clock Door progression also matter.
Break Egg
The Egg appears twice in William's overall morning progression: once earlier in the route and again as the final Break Egg stage. Do not assume the first Egg interaction means that branch is completely finished.

Back to Day 2 WalkthroughWaking up William FAQ
01Why won't William wake up after coffee?
Coffee is only one requirement. Check both eyes, the Hat progression and the Window / Knob interaction as well.
02Do both eyes matter?
Yes. The left and right eye interactions are tracked separately.
03What order should I do William's morning route in?
The major progression sequence follows Hat → Egg → Scroll → Timepiece → Break Egg, after the initial wake-up requirements.
04Why doesn't William's Clock work?
Correct clock hands may not be enough. The Clock Door and Jacket Timepiece must also be in the required progression state.
05Is the Pocket Watch the same as the Jacket Timepiece?
Use Jacket Timepiece as the guide name; that is the item tied to this Clock route.
06Why do I return to the Egg later?
The Egg appears in more than one stage of William's morning progression, including a later Break Egg step.
